We know the winter snow is perfect for an extreme Arctic Trucks adventure, but the Icelandic summer offers an experience like no other.
Exploring the highlands during the summertime is truly magical. The green color in the mountains leaves nobody untouched and the highland rivers will give you a good challenge for the day. When driving in the highlands it is almost as the time stands still as the sun sets only for a few hours at night. The midnight sun peaks around the 21st of June on the summer solstice but you can experience the bright Icelandic nights from May to August. During this time every Icelandic citizen absorbs the annual dose of Vitamin D and everyone gets more energized. The bright summer nights are caused by the Earths axial tilt towards the sun. The closer you are to the two poles the more dramatic and longer lasting the midnight sun gets.
We always say that Iceland becomes a whole different country in the summertime and that is why you should experience both seasons!
