Join us on this Thorsmork super jeep tour as we take you on an exhilarating journey to the Thorsmork Valley. You will be surrounded by many of Iceland’s most breathtaking and rugged landscapes. On this tour we enter the verdant, green valley that is surrounded by magnificent mountains and glaciers on all sides. We will explore rugged mountain trails, cross thundering unbridged glacial rivers and hike in lush birch tree forests.
Our first visit is the heavily receding Gigjokull glacier. This glacier flows into the valley below from the Eyjafjallajokull crater. You will see the unbridled power of nature here as you gaze in wonder at this beautiful glacier. Just imagine a world that was and how quickly this glacier has decreased in size. Hiking the Stakkholtsgja Canyon which is a deep and narrow gorge formed over millenniums by the raging waters of Stakkholtsgja river takes you into the current moment. After the hike, we will continue our journey and cross multiple glacial rivers varying in size and difficulty and each offering a thrilling challenge to the super jeeps.
Our final destination is the Eyjafjallajokull glacier. It is Iceland’s most infamous glacier. This ice-covered volcano is famous for its dramatic eruption in 2010, which disrupted air travel across Europe and captured the attention of the entire world. Eyjafjallajokull is still a popular tourist destination today, here we will get up close and personal with it.
Throughout the tour, our knowledgeable guide shares fascinating insights about the natural landscape, geology, and history with you. This trip of Thorsmork Valley is guaranteed to be a remarkable experience, whether you’re an experienced traveler or just want to get away from it all.
